Apple CarPlay & Android Auto Overview

Owners of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles are lucky to have vehicles equipped with Uconnect, a standout in the field of automotive infotainment systems. But sometimes you want something different, maybe you bought the vehicle used and the previous owner didn’t spring for the navigation, or maybe you just want a different interface. That’s where Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come in, giving you a whole suite of new features. If you’ve never used one of these platforms, you might not know what you’re missing.

What Are Apple Car Play And Android Auto?

Chrysler Apple CarPlay

Essentially, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are a way of projecting your smartphone onto the touchscreen in your vehicle. Many people prefer this system because the larger screen is easier to see and operate, and there’s no need for awkward phone mounts or other such hardware. The only significant difference between the two systems is that one is for Apple phones and one is for Android phones. For older vehicles that are compatible with these systems, you were required to plug the phone into the vehicle’s USB port, but newer vehicles will probably have the option to connect wirelessly.
