There are trucks with all kinds of drivetrains out there. Gasoline, diesel, all-electric, and traditional hybrid drivetrains are all readily available in a variety of different forms. But the Ramcharger offers a totally unique form of truck drivetrain. It’s not quite a plug-in hybrid, but not purely electric either, although it does offer 145 miles of all-electric range. Together with the extra range provided by the gasoline engine, the Ramcharger has a total range of 690 miles. On top of that, it offers tremendous power, as well as payload and towing capabilities far greater than you will have seen in other full-size light-duty pickups, no matter what the drivetrain. And with all of this, you get everything else that you already love about the Ram 1500, including body-on-frame construction and the best interior in its class.
Not quite a plug-in hybrid, and not quite an EV, whatever you call it, the Ramcharger drivetrain requires some explaining. The Ramcharger comes with a 92 kWh battery pack that’s good for 145 miles of all-electric range. This can be charged by plugging in-just like a regular EV. But when the battery gets depleted, the 3.6-liter V6 fires up to generate more power. The distinction here is that the engine doesn’t power the wheels directly, it generates the electricity for the electric motors and recharges the batteries. It’s similar to how a diesel locomotive works, which should tell you something about the Ramcharger’s capability. The Ramcharger has a better towing capacity than competing electric pickups, 14,000 pounds, and with the range-extending V6, it’s not hampered by the range issues that often come with attaching a trailer to an electric truck. It’s also very powerful, putting out 663 horsepower and 615 lb-ft or torque, with a 0-60 time of just 4.4 seconds. That’s actually slightly quicker than the high-performance 1500 RHO will hit 60.Paragraph goes here
Ram has offered the best truck interiors in the business since long before the debut of the Ramcharger. Ram has raised the bar for the 1500 even further for the 2025 model year, and that includes the Ramchager. This is true across the whole trim lineup, but Ram has also debuted a new luxury trim, the Tungsten, for 2025. This features touches like 24-way power adjustable driver and front passenger seats with heat, ventilation, memory and massage functions. The available 23-speaker Klipsch® Reference Premiere Audio System comes with a 1,228-watt amplifier, the most powerful in its class. The Ramcharger comes with a 12-inch central touchscreen, but there is an available upgrade to a 14.5-inch unit, if you want a bit more screen real estate. There is also an available 10.25-inch passenger-side touchscreen with an HDMI input, so your passenger can keep themselves entertained more easily.
The Ramcharger has obviously been built from the ground up to be a technological showcase. This might be most obvious with the drivetrain, but it carries on far beyond that. The Ramcharger comes with standard or available features like Active Lane Management, Evasive Steer Assist, Intersection Collision Assist, Drowsy Driver Detection, and Traffic Sign Recognition. The available ParkSense® automated parking system can park your truck for you, and even help you find the spot in the first place. There is an available power tailgate that can be operated remotely, and the class-exclusive RamBox® Cargo Management System gives you lockable and weatherproof storage in the bed, as well as a 115-Volt/400-Watt auxiliary outlet.
